Women's Cross Country: Macalester Places Third at Ole Opener
A Strong Start to the Season
The Macalester College women's cross country team opened their season with a strong performance at the Ole Opener, hosted by St. Olaf College on Saturday, September 2nd. The Scots placed third out of 11 teams, with a team score of 94 points.
Top Finishers
- First-year runner Sophia Rodriguez led the way for Macalester, finishing in 10th place with a time of 23:12.7.
- Senior captain Emily Cook was close behind, placing 12th with a time of 23:24.6.
- Sophomore Annika Anderson also had a strong race, finishing 16th with a time of 23:43.5.
Team Performance
The Scots' performance was a testament to their hard work and preparation during the offseason. The team has been training consistently since August, and they are excited to see their hard work pay off.
Head coach Sarah Cass is pleased with the team's performance and is looking forward to the rest of the season. "I'm really proud of the way the team ran today," said Cass. "They competed hard and represented Macalester well."
Looking Ahead
The Scots will be back in action next Saturday, September 9th, when they travel to Northfield, Minnesota, to compete in the St. Olaf College Invitational. The team is looking to build on their strong start to the season and finish in the top three.
