Kellogg's to Close Omaha Cereal Plant, Reduce Production Elsewhere
Omaha Facility to Close in 2026, Downsizing at Other Locations Planned
Consolidation Efforts Part of Plan to Improve Efficiency
Kellogg's has announced plans to close its cereal plant in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2026 and reduce production at two other cereal plants as part of an effort to consolidate operations in newer facilities. The Omaha plant has been in operation for over 60 years and employs approximately 350 workers.
Kellogg's said the decision was made after a comprehensive review of its manufacturing network and is part of a plan to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
The company said it will work with employees at the affected plants to support them through the transition. Kellogg's did not disclose the number of jobs that will be lost as a result of these changes.
The closure of the Omaha plant and the downsizing at the other two plants are part of a larger trend in the food industry as companies seek to consolidate operations and reduce costs.
