The Oakland Raiders family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of legendary center Jim Otto. Otto, known as "Mr. Raider" for his remarkable durability and unwavering dedication to the team, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

A Life of Triumph and Adversity

Jim Otto was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, in 1938. He went on to star at the University of Miami before being drafted by the Raiders in 1960. Over the next 15 seasons, Otto became a cornerstone of the Raiders' offensive line, earning Pro Bowl honors 12 times and All-Pro selections 10 times. Despite suffering numerous injuries throughout his career, Otto played in a remarkable 210 consecutive games, including 12 playoff games.

Off the field, Otto was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Sally were married for 63 years and had two children, including Jim Jr., who played football at Placer High School and briefly for the Raiders. Otto is also survived by his son Jim Jr., daughter Kay, and four grandchildren.

The Raiders organization extends its deepest condolences to Sally Otto and the entire Otto family during this difficult time. Jim Otto will forever be remembered as a true legend of the Raiders and an inspiration to generations of football fans.
